C8 vs C18 HPLC columns

Image
1- C8 : Has only 8 carbon atoms chain bonded to silica atom, less dense than C18 (Decreases the surface area) so the elution will be faster (Decreases retention time). 2- C18 : Has only 18 carbon atoms chain bonded to silica atom, more dense than C8 (Increases the surface area) so the elution will be slower (Increases retention time).

Theory of operating HPLC column in reversed flow direction

Image
Many operators try to reverse the flow direction of HPLC column to obtain acceptable system suitability results such as ( Tailing factor, Plate count and resolution ) - In your opinion, Do you think that this actually affects on system suitability ? - What is the scientific theory of this ? - Do you think that this will affect on the column performance on the long run ๐Ÿค”?  " Lets discuss this with each other in the comments ๐Ÿ‘‡"
